Alaska - Katmai National Park- Bear Photography Expeditions

Alaska, with its pristine wilderness is a dream for a wildlife photographer. If your dream is to view and photograph bears there is hardly any better place in the world. Katmai National Park, where we mostly target our trips, is one of the most densely bear populated areas in the world which offers amazing bear photography possibilities. We have over 15 years of knowledge and experience of arranging photography tours within Katmai National Park. The scenery is spectacular with volcanoes, beaches, grasslands, glaciers and rivers that flows across the land. The bears in Katmai are uniquely tolerant of human presence since the bears have been protected from hunting. Trips to Katmai National Park are arranged annually and can be arranged and stitched together as desired in addition to our regular dates. We specialize in photo tours but also arrange trips on request for those who are only more generally interested in experiencing and seeing grizzly bears in their natural environment.

In Hallo there can be a large numbers of bears gathered sometimes up to 30-40 bears in one place! The grass fields of Hallo Bay also offers nutritious grass for the bears to graze which is an important food resource after a long winter sleep. During this trip you will have the chance to experience large male bears challenging each other, females with spring cubs, bears digging for clams and much else- this is a very interesting period in the world of bears!

Hallo Bay-August/September
Summer salmon run

During this trip we head to a place we call "Bear Creek". Bear Creek is located along the coast of the southern part of Katmai National Park, the location is one of the best spots along the coast if interested of geting action shots of grizzly bears chasing and catching salmon. The scenery is spectacular with a valley surrounded by high mountains. We have our tent camp next to a small lagoon close to the area where the bears catch salmon. From the camp one have a good overview of the river mouth and therefore we never miss any action.
